Prince Adedayo Ladega, the Executive Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, has explained the Fanti Carnival has provided his administration the opportunity to further unite people of Ikorodu and positively engage its youths.
He stressed that when youths are encouraged to contribute through cultural and community engagements, it is a very important way of promoting peaceful co -existence and giving members of the community sense of belonging.
The Chairman stated this at the Fanti Media Parley held at the Oriwu Club Rooftop of Ikorodu Town Hall, Olubi Street, Ikorodu, on Thursday.
”Our involvement in this forthcoming Ikorodu Fanti Carnival goes beyond entertainment and celebration. It is a part of our continuous efforts to unite our community; bring our prole together and build a better society.”
”You all understand why we have to be united, and the Fanti is bringing us together; our youth, the old and young; female and male. So that’s a good platform for unity.”
Prince Ladega also stressed the importance of investing in people and positively engaging the youth.
”We believe in engaging the youth positively through cultural and community activities. It is a way to sustain peace, promote security, and strengthen our sense of belonging.”
”The investment is to show that we understand the value of investing in our people and the social stability of our community.”
The council boss also stated that the carnival also avails the council and the organisers the opportunity to further make Ikorodu a tourism destination.
”The carnival is an opportunity to promote Ikorodu as a tourist destination, showcase our rich cultural heritage, and export our values to the world. Ultimately, we are investing in more than a carnival.”
”We are investing in peace, our youth, our culture, and the future of Ikorodu Division. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. God bless Lagos State.”
Prince Ladega who described the Royal All White Party initiative being organised by a group of youths, which is also part of the annual Ikorodu -Oga Festival, as a fantastic idea revealed that they are in talk with them to see to how a befittjng outing this year could be achieved.
